Minecraft | Installing a Modpack

Modpacks in Minecraft are collections of mods, which are modifications to the base game that add new features, items, mechanics, or enhance existing gameplay elements. Modpacks combine multiple mods into a single package, allowing players to easily install and play with a curated set of mods that work well together. Easy Method

1. Stop your server.
2. Click on Minecraft Modpacks in the control panel.

3. You can find the desired modpack by either searching for it or using the Sort By dropdown menu.

4. Click on the Install button, and another window will pop up. This is where you can choose the version and mod loader to use.

5. Click Install once again to start the installation process.

6. The server should now start.

Manual Method

1. Stop your server.
2. Connect to your server via SFTP. If you need assistance setting up SFTP, you can find a guide here.
3. Remove all previous vanilla files on your server.

Remove everything except server.properties and eula.txt

4. Download the modpack files of the desired modpack to your computer and prepare them.

5. Extract the files from the downloaded zip to a folder on your desktop.

6. Run the install.bat file to generate the Forge files (double-click it).

note

some modpacks may handle this step differently, and you may need to download Forge manually from the Forge website. Refer to the modpack documentation for instructions.

7. Wait for the command-line window to open and close.

8. Delete unnecessary files, such as .bat, .sh, .pdf, .txt, and forge-installer.jar, keeping only the essential modpack files.

9. In the FTP client, delete all existing files to empty the server directory. If you need instructions on how to set up FTP, refer to the guide here.

10. Upload the modpack files to the server.
11. In the game panel, navigate to the "Command Line Manager".
12. Select the standard commandline.
13. In the jar Selector drop-down menu, choose the Forge jar file and click Apply.
14. Start your server.

If the server fails to start, it is likely due to the server's Java version set to automatic and some jars cannot be detected automatically.
