Minecraft | How to OP yourself

Setting up a Minecraft server grants you full control over permissions and commands. Granting similar privileges to other players is as easy as making them an Operator (OP). This guide will cover managing operator permissions, including Op levels, setting up operators, and revoking operator status.

info

Op Permission Levels were introduced in the 1.7.10 update, offering more control over operator authority. To assign specific permissions to players or groups, you can use plugins like LuckPerms.

How to set someone to OP on your Minecraft server

  1. Go to the game panel and navigate to the web console tab on the left side.

  2. In the command line, enter the following: op <player_name> (without quotation marks) and press enter. Make sure to exclude the quotation marks.

  1. Look for a message that confirms the successful execution of the command, which should state: Made Player a server operator.

  1. Another way to perform this action in-game is by typing /op (without quotation marks).
tip

Remember that you need to have operator permissions in order to use the above command in-game.
